Sharing a delicious meal
with the people you love is always something to treasure. ♥️

Homemade Lasagna Recipe: Beef Ragu and Béchamel Sauce
.
.
1. Beef Ragu Sauce
.
Ingredients
.
- 200 g ground beef
- 1 onion
- About 10 button mushrooms
- ½ carrot
- 1 tomato
- About 10 g butter
- 300–400 g tomato pasta sauce
- 100 ml heavy cream or milk (optional, to taste)
- 1 tbsp salt (as listed in the original recipe; adjust to taste)
- 1 tbsp cooking wine
.
.
Instructions
.
1) Finely chop the onion, mushrooms, and carrot.
.
2) Heat a saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the butter and sauté the onion until softened.
.
3) Add the ground beef, salt, and cooking wine. Cook until the beef is browned.
.
4) Add the chopped carrot and mushrooms, then stir-fry until everything is evenly combined.
.
5) Roughly chop the tomato and add it to the pan along with the tomato pasta sauce. Stir well and let the sauce simmer gently.
.
- Tip: For lasagna, add about 50–100 ml of water to make the sauce slightly thinner. This helps the layers cook together nicely in the oven.
.
.
.
2. Béchamel Sauce
.
.
Ingredients
.
- 50 g butter
- 50 g all-purpose flour
- 500 ml milk
.
.
Instructions
.
1) Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
2) Add the flour and stir well until smooth, making sure there are no lumps.
.
3) Gradually pour in the milk, a little at a time, stirring continuously to create a smooth sauce.
.
4) If the sauce becomes too thick, remove it from the heat and add a little more milk. Stir until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.
.
.
.
3. Assembling the Lasagna
.
.
Ingredients
.
- Prepared beef ragu sauce
- Prepared béchamel sauce
- Lasagna sheets
- Cheese of your choice
- Thinly sliced potatoes (optional)
.
💙 Optional additions
- Use mozzarella for a soft, stretchy cheese topping, or Parmigiano Reggiano for a richer, savory finish.
- Add thinly sliced potatoes between the layers for a heartier, more substantial dish.
.
.
Instructions
.
1) Layer the ingredients in an ovenproof baking dish, alternating the sauces, lasagna sheets, and optional potato slices.
▶︎ A suggested layering order:
- Beef ragu sauce
- Lasagna sheets
- Beef ragu sauce
- Thinly sliced potatoes
- A mixture of beef ragu and béchamel sauce
- Lasagna sheets
- Béchamel and beef ragu sauce
- Grated Parmigiano Reggiano
Repeat or adjust the layers as needed to suit your baking dish.
.
2) Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for 25–30 minutes.
.
3) Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before carefully slicing and serving.
.
A little patience makes it easier to cut neat slices and helps the layers hold together.
.
.
What to Serve with Lasagna
.
A simple arugula and tomato salad makes a fresh, delicious side dish that balances the richness of the lasagna.
.
The peppery arugula and juicy tomatoes add a refreshing contrast to the creamy béchamel and hearty beef ragu, creating a well-balanced meal. ♥️
